Marseille have emerged as major suitors for Carboni this summer.

The Ligue 1 club have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as head coach. And the former Sassuolo and Brighton and Hove Albion boss is a big fan of the Argentine international.

Therefore, Marseille could be the club who really put Inter’s resolve to the test regarding Carboni.

The Nerazzurri were always likely to face something of a dilemma concerning the teenage attacking midfielder this summer.

Last summer, Inter sent Carboni out on loan to Monza. There he gained regular experience at the senior top flight level.

Now, Carboni is ready to take further steps into the senior game.

But it does not exactly look likely that the Argentine will do so at Inter. He is not likely to have a role in the first team squad next season.

Therefore, Inter will have to search for a new club for Carboni.

They will aim to either loan him again – if there is to be a purchase option, it should contain a buyback option. And otherwise, if Inter sell Carboni permanently, it would be for a fee of €35-40 million.

Marseille will make their own considerations about what sort of terms they want to sign Carboni on.

And according to Tuttosport, the French club won’t dawdle.

Marseille are aware that there is plenty of competition for Carboni’s signature.

And for their part, Inter would like to sort the teenager’s situation out sooner rather than later.

Particularly if Inter sell Carboni for a big fee, it would be a major factor conditioning the rest of their summer transfer plans.

Therefore, the two clubs will aim to clarify things in negotiations over the next few days.
