Newcastle United retain a firm interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to The Athletic.
They are holding talks with intermediaries to get a deal done for the 6ft 4in 25-year-old, but they have yet to contact Wolves.
The Magpies are desperate to bolster their striking options after Alexander Isak made it clear he wants to leave.
A deal for Strand Larsen is not more advanced than other options, but he is among a small group of players under consideration.
He notched 14 goals and four assists in 35 Premier League appearances last term, and his impressive debut campaign in England has caught the attention of Newcastle.
Strand Larsen ended his last season in La Liga with 13 goals and three assists in 37 games for Girona in 2023-24.
Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer was impressed with his performance after bagging the winner against Ipswich Town in April, and would be glad to see him move to his beloved club.
“His hold-up play was excellent,” Shearer said at the time. “His touch and control were superb.”
Manchester City counterpart Erling Braut Haaland was also blown away.
The opportunity to play in the Champions League with the Magpies would appeal to Strand Larsen.
However, he is not agitating for a move, and Wolves will not sell for cheap.
Newcastle also have Brentford striker Yoane Wissa on their radar. They plan to launch an improved £35 million bid for him after an initial £30m bid was turned down.
The 28-year-old is desperate to secure the move and has unfollowed the Bees on his social media accounts, deleting all pictures of himself in their colours.
