Newcastle United have now officially confirmed that no offer has been made to buy Alexander Isak.
The speculation has been endless as the various media fight to get noticed, inventing all kinds of claims on what is supposedly happening with the striker.
The striker’s departure supposedly imminent.
However, the club making clear that no offer has been made for Alexander Isak.
Eddie Howe speaking in Seoul on Tuesday, ahead of tomorrow’s friendly against a Team K-League all stars side – 29 July 2025:
“Alexander Isak is our player and he is still contracted to us.
“To a degree we control what is next for him.
“I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us.
“My wish is that he stays but that’s not in my full control.
“We have not received a formal offer for Alex.
“Not from any club.
“My wish is that he stays and we see him playing again next season.”
This is the thing.
It is all very well Liverpool, or whoever, feeding the media lines (‘Liverpool prepared to pay £120m for Alexander Isak’) to unsettle players at other clubs.
However, for there even to be any chance of signing a player, a club has to put their money where their mouth is.
We are now only two and a half weeks away from the new Premier League season and in reality, any club who had any intention of trying to buy Alexander Isak this summer, should have been doing things properly and making a credible formal offer months ago, at the end of last season. Rather than waiting until this late stage to brief the media they are ‘willing’ to pay tens of millions under Newcastle United’s reported valuation.
