Lewis Hall is now a permanent Newcastle United signing.

An official announcement from the club on Monday morning confirmed the news.

Lewis Hall arrived as an 18-year-old on an initial loan deal last summer.

Eddie Howe, as always, looking after the new signing, especially one so young, giving him time to adapt and integrate.

Then after giving him odd starts, including the League Cup wins over Manchester City and Manchester United, the Newcastle United boss gave the teenager a run of starts later in the season.

Lewis Hall looking a real quality player, especially going forward from his left-back position, those late appearances seeing him score a cracking goal at Old Trafford.

It had already been widely reported that Lewis Hall had met the criteria needed in his loan spell arrangement, that would trigger a permanent deal.

So with this the first day of the new (2024/25) season accounting period for Newcastle United, Lewis Hall was finally officially confirmed as a permanent signing, the transfer fee is unconfirmed as usual, but universally agreed around the media to be £28m.

The 19-year-old full-back has signed a long-term contract at St. James’ Park after impressing in his 22 appearances for the Magpies during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring twice.

A boyhood Magpies supporter, the England Under-21 international made his debut in Newcastle United’s 8-0 win at Sheffield United in September 2023.

Lewis Hall said: “I am extremely proud to be able to build on last season and continue my journey at Newcastle United. The fans, the manager and his staff, my teammates and everyone at the club have made me feel so welcome that I want to repay the faith they’ve shown in me.

“When you pull on the black and white shirt, there is no feeling like it and playing in front of the best supporters in the country is extra special for me being a Toon fan.

“I gained a lot of experience last season, and with the squad we have, we’ll be looking to push on even further this season. I can’t wait to get started.”

Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe said: “Lewis was a very good addition to our squad last season and we have been delighted with his progress and his contribution to the team.
