Newcastle United are nearing a deal to sign goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale with talks progressing.

Ramsdale was a part of the Southampton team that were relegated in the 2024/25 season after having joined on a permanent transfer from Arsenal.

The goalkeeper played 32 times for the Saints last season and is now nearing a move to the Magpies.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, an agreement is close between the two teams on a loan deal that will involve Newcastle paying a 'heavy' fee with an option to buy also included.

Newcastle already have four first team goalkeepers but are rumoured to be moving on Odysseas Vlachodimos and Martin Dúbravka this window.
