Newcastle United are determined to keep hold of defenders Kieran Trippier and Matt Taegett on deadline day, according to the Northern Echo.
The Magpies are sanctioning an exit for centre-back Lloyd Kelly, who has travelled to Juventus to complete a move to the Italian giants.
There has also been interest in Trippier from Turkey and in Targett from clubs in the Championship, with both struggling for playing time under Eddie Howe.
Newcastle have been keen to offload fringe players to boost their PSR position, despite the fact they are not planning on any signings on deadline day.
Trippier and Targett though are players Newcastle do not want to part with and they will resist letting either go.
Howe does not want to see his defensive depth weakened further and wants them to stay.
The Magpies could still be tested with proposals before the window closes.
And it is unclear whether Trippier or Targett might push to try and find their way to the St James’ Park exit door.
