Manor Solomon could tear up the Championship, but staying fit will be key to his success.

Leeds United endured a very mixed transfer window, with Manor Solomon one of a number of decent additions.

These high-profile additions were much-needed though, with some key players departing Elland Road this summer.

Their former starting right-back/midfielder Archie Gray sealed a move to Tottenham Hotspur - and Glen Kamara also left the club to link up with Stade Rennais.

More key players left after that, with Crysencio Summerville securing a switch to West Ham United after registering 21 goals and 10 assists in all competitions for the Whites during the 2023/24 campaign.

And Georginio Rutter, who was also a very important figure in the final third last term, also moved back to the Premier League.

With Brenden Aaronson returning, though, and Largie Ramazani and Solomon making moves to Elland Road, Daniel Farke will be hoping that the trio can help to fill the void that was created by the attackers who left.

Alex Cairns, Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle, Isaac Schmidt, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell also joined the club to address key positions - and the West Yorkshire side looks to be in a strong position to compete for promotion again this term.

Following their play-off heartbreak at Wembley last term, Farke will be desperate to guide the Whites back to the Premier League at the second time of asking and his high-calibre squad should help him in his quest to achieve that aim.

Manor Solomon could be too good for the Championship

Solomon is a very talented player who has represented some big clubs during his career and, with that, has been able to compete in some major competitions.

Scoring four goals in the Champions League during his time at Shakhtar Donetsk, he has also shone in the Premier League before, registering four goals in 19 English top-tier appearances for Fulham during his temporary spell at Craven Cottage.

Also shining at an international level with Israel, Solomon has had a fairly decent career thus far, even though he was seemingly deemed temporarily surplus to requirements at Tottenham during the summer.

Because he is only 25, Solomon may not have reached the peak of his powers yet and, having spent much of his career competing at the top level, he looks to be a very shrewd addition for Leeds.

He could even be too good for this level if he can secure a decent amount of game time and shine consistently - and this is why he is such an exciting signing.

Able to be a real asset in front of goal, the Israel international has substance as well as style, and he could hold a very important role in the Whites' first team this term.

Solomon has spent much of his career out wide and has been at his best on the wing, but he can also operate as a central attacking midfielder if required and after the departure of Rutter, his versatility could come in handy at some point, depending on injuries and suspensions.

It's his contributions in front of goal that could be most vital though, with Leeds needing someone to step up and be just as effective as Summerville was last term.

During his first season at Spurs, which was last term, Solomon struggled to stay fit.

Persistent knee issues meant he only made six appearances for Ange Postecoglou's side during the 2023/24 campaign in all competitions, registering two assists in the process.

Those contributions alone suggest that he could be a real asset for the Whites this term.

However, other wide players, including Ramazani, Willy Gnonto and Dan James, will be ready to take his starting place away from him if he doesn't remain fit and consistent, having been in the first 11 against Hull City yesterday.

James is injured at this point, which could give Solomon a real chance to assert himself as a regular starter, but the Israeli's own fitness will be key to his success at Elland Road.

Manor Solomon's start to life at Leeds United

Despite an impressive debut, Solomon probably didn't showcase his full potential against Hull yesterday. However, he still managed to look a level above most others on the pitch at Elland Road.

The winger may have shown signs of rustiness against the Tigers, but he was still able to make a valuable contribution, registering the assist for Mateo Joseph's goal.

This goal came at an important time - and Solomon contributed a huge amount to the opener.

Using his pace to get the better of two players, he was then able to deliver an exquisite cross for Joseph to convert.

This a promising early sign - and it will be interesting to see whether he can continue to shine.
