Multiple sources confirm that Napoli have agreed a €35m plus €5m in add-ons deal with Torino for Alessandro Buongiorno, so now they must work out personal terms.

Their pursuit of the defender has been clear for weeks, but intensified over the last couple of days following a face-to-face meeting between director Giovanni Manna and agent Beppe Riso.

The opening offer of €35m including bonuses was rejected, but Sportitalia, Sky Sport Italia and more are all confident a deal has now been done for €35m plus another €5m in performance-related add-ons.

There had also been interest from Juventus, Inter and Tottenham Hotspur in Buongiorno, while Milan and Atalanta had seen their approach rejected in January.

Tuttosport suggest that Juventus had actually offered more than Napoli this summer, €42m plus €5m in add-ons, but that a sale to their bitter rivals would’ve been too tough to swallow.

It is not quite a done deal yet, as Napoli still need to agree personal terms with the player’s agent, and this is notoriously a complicated process, especially regarding image rights.

Sportitalia also claim that Buongiorno wants a release clause in the contract, whereas Napoli are resisting the idea.
