Napoli are pressing ahead with their efforts to sign USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah from Milan, but negotiations have entered a delicate phase as both clubs grapple over financial details.

Musah, 22, became a peripheral figure toward the end of his Milan spell, featuring for just 181 minutes across the final eight games of the season under Sergio Conceição.

But La Republicca say that the midfielder is seen by Antonio Conte as a key addition to the Partenopei’s engine room, which already includes Scott McTominay, Stanislav Lobotka and newly arrived Kevin De Bruyne.

Conte views Musah as ideal for the tactical demands of his side.

Clubs are reportedly aligned around a transfer fee in the region of €23–25m, with Milan seeking further bonuses that remain the key sticking point.

Napoli’s sporting director continues to assert that the current offer represents fair value and that the club will not raise its bidding further. Should the terms remain unresolved, Napoli are prepared to explore alternative targets.

Negotiations have reached a temporary standstill following Milan's rejection of a €23m package plus add-ons, a proposal that was initially seen as close to finalisation. Milan’s insistence on higher add-on structures led Napoli to halt communications momentarily.

Nonetheless, talks are expected to resume in the days ahead, with both sides hoping to find common ground on bonus arrangements.

For Napoli, signing Musah is about more than a fresh face in midfield: it’s about strategic reinforcement. The club see him as a player whose talents could flourish under Conte's supervision, while for Musah himself, the move would offer a welcome reset after an inconsistent spell in Lombardy and the opportunity to feature in the Champions League next season.

Should the transfer materialise, the American midfielder could provide the intensity, tactical discipline and forward thrust Napoli are seeking as they look to defend their Serie A title.
