Napoli have emerged as the latest contender to sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City this summer, as per a new report.

Grealish is expected to leave Manchester City – either on loan or a permanent deal – in the coming months after starting seven Premier League games last season and being excluded from Pep Guardiola’s FIFA Club World Cup squad.

The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his lucrative contract at the Etihad Stadium, with the England international understood to be earning in excess of £300,000-per-week after joining City from Aston Villa for what was then a British-record £100 million fee in 2021.

However, things haven’t gone as planned for Grealish in the last two seasons as after playing a starring role in Manchester City’s 2022-23 treble-winning campaign, the forward has struggled to maintain form, fitness and confidence in the last 24 months.

Guardiola has left the door open for Grealish to stay in Manchester and fight for a starting place next season but the Manchester City manager has lost faith in his most expensive signing, who is also fighting for his England career.

Grealish has been left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first two squads as England manager and the Birmingham-born winger has been told by the Three Lions boss that he needs to be playing regularly for his club to be in contention for a place in England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Manchester City have already added Rayan Cherki from Lyon to their attack this summer and there remain huge question marks over whether Grealish can turn the ship around at the Etihad Stadium under Guardiola, who left his record signing on the bench altogether in the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace at Wembley.

Grealish was also left out of the matchday squad for Manchester City’s final Premier League game of the campaign against Fulham and there appears to be a consensus amongst all parties that now is the time to part ways and move on for the winger to revitalise his club and international career(s).

Sun Sport are reporting that Napoli are ready to sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City for a sum of £45 million this summer. The newly-crowned Serie A champions are eyeing a swoop for either Grealish or Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

Napoli confirmed the signing of Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City on a two-year deal last week and are understood to be keen on reuniting Grealish with his former teammate, with Grealish also believed to be attracted to the idea of playing abroad.

Manchester United have set a £70 million asking price for Garnacho – who is keen to stay in England – and whilst Napoli would ideally look to sign the 20-year-old Argentine owing to his age, Grealish is their preferred addition and Manchester City would be ready to sell him for £45 million this summer.

Grealish has not attracted much interest from the top end of the Premier League and his best shot at a new lease of life and a place on the England plane to the FIFA World Cup next summer may lie abroad.
