Napoli are finally ready to dive in for Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, but are still a long way off the asking price.

It has been absolutely no secret that new coach Antonio Conte requested Buongiorno specifically for his squad, paving the way for a potential move to a three-man defence.

There is plenty of other interest in Buongiorno, as Milan and Atalanta had already seen their offers rejected in the January transfer window, while Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on the situation.

Buongiorno has a high asking price

Torino hope to make him their future captain, but the time might have come for him to take flight at a bigger club, especially after being part of the Italy squad at EURO 2024.

According to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are ready to intensify negotiations and offer a package coming to €35m including add-ons and potential player exchanges.

That is still a long way off the asking price, as Tuttosport suggest Torino are hoping to get €45-50m for the centre-back.

He just turned 25 last month and is under contract until June 2028, having come through the Torino youth academy.
