Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku opened up on his feelings about Inter Milan after falling out with the Nerazzurri faithful.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, Lukaku also addressed his relationship with Lautaro Martinez.
Romelu Lukaku enjoyed two hugely impressive spells at Inter.
Indeed, during his first stint, he helped the club win the Scudetto under Antonio Conte in 2020/21.
Then, he featured in the Champions League grand final with the Nerazzurr in 2023, losing to Manchester City in Istanbul.
Unfortunately, he was among the culprits for that heartbreaking loss, missing a sitter down the final stretch.
However, Inter fans would’ve probably forgiven him had he not turned down the chance to return to the club in 2023.
Instead, he opted to join Roma on a season-long loan before reuniting with Conte at Napoli this season.
Lukaku’s rejection has never sat well with the Inter supporters.
Furthermore, he has become one of the most unpopular visiting players.
“I never hated Inter, never,” Lukaku said. “If someone said otherwise, especially during that period, it wasn’t me.”
Once brothers on the field, Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are now fierce rivals in an intense Serie A title race.

Therefore, the two are no longer friends, as the 31-year-old confirmed they’ve lost contact.
Asked whether he still hears from El Toro, Lukaku quickly replied: “No.”
However, he praised the Inter captain for his tremendous qualities and work ethic.
“He’s a great player and a great guy; he deserves all the good things happening to him,” Lukaku added.
“He has worked hard for this.
“A player like him is invaluable for the league – the stronger the players, the more prestigious Serie A becomes.”
Finally, he insisted it’s not just Inter and Napoli fighting for the Serie A crown.
“Also against Atalanta and Juve, who are six points behind,” he concluded.
