Napoli Hopeful for Breakthrough in Kvaratskhelia Talks | OneFootball

Napoli and the entourage of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are stuck in their respective positions concerning his contract extension. They’ll meet again shortly to see if they can find some common ground and close the gap, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The Azzurri are willing to make the winger their highest-paid player, along with Romelu Lukaku, and offered €5M plus €1M. They proposed a sky-high release clause above the €100M threshold. Instead, his agent Mamuka Jugeli demanded €8M wages and a lower figure to eventually leave, similar to the renegotiated Victor Osimhen one.

Despite the impasse, Napoli believe Kvaratskhelia wants to stay and will try to take advantage of that. President Aurelio De Laurentiis didn’t sound optimistic in his most recent remarks on the matter.

The next meeting will happen before the Lecce or the Milan game depending on when the agent will arrive in Italy. The Georgian star is currently under contract until 2027 but makes just €1.8M per season.

The massive contract they handed to Osimhen continues to be a problem, and it’s tough to explain to representatives that it was an outlier and not an indication that they raised the bar for good salary-wise, especially when there are teams waiting in the wings with large offers. They weren’t lavish on those in the summer. Since it doesn’t look like an agreement is imminent, and perhaps not even likely, the best thing they could do is to quiet things down and act more stealthily so it doesn’t become a big cloud hanging over their season, which is instead going great.
