FC Nantes are set to loan out goalkeeper Alban Lafont (26) to Greek side Panathinaikos, according to L’Equipe. The deal is reportedly a straight loan, with no option to buy.
Lafont began his career at Toulouse FC, making a total of 106 appearances before moving to Serie A side Fiorentina in July 2018. After a single season in Italy, he returned to Ligue 1 with a loan move to Nantes. Following two seasons on loan at La Beaujoire, the deal was made permanent in July 2021.
Lafont established himself as Nantes’ first-choice goalkeeper and went on to make 129 appearances for the club, before falling out of favour under former head coach Antoine Kombouaré last season. His final appearance for Nantes came in November 2024 in a 2-0 loss to Le Havre AC.
Although Lafont’s current contract runs until 2027, the French U21 international now looks set to leave the club – at least temporarily.
