Morecambe have been placed on a registration embargo for non compliance with National League financial regulations.

The Shrimps are in limbo as owner Jason Whittingham of Bond Group Investments has yet to sell the club with a deal to sign the club over to Panjab Warriors not being completed despite the potential buyers being granted EFL approval.

Indeed, on Wednesday a new unknown last-minute buyer emerged which has now become Whittingham's preferred bidder. Meanwhile Panjab Warriors have been considering seeking legal advice over the collapsed deal.

That off field uncertainly has now been compounded with the struggling club being placed under a registration embargo by the National League.

Last year, the Shrimps went through a similar process with the club being placed under an embargo from March to July 2024.
