A lot of the recent Aston Villa success is thanks to the players that have been brought in recently. A lot of people had input and deserve credit for Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, for example, coming on loan deals. Monchi is on the forefront of a lot of these decisions as the president of football operations.

Naturally, the business of the sport rarely involves anyone sticking around at one location for too long. Either a player or manager isn't holding up their end of the bargain and gets released, or they earn a shot from a bigger club. The same is true at executive positions.

Having spent time as the club that he is a fan of as their sporting director, many speculate that Monchi would return to Sevilla at some point. Approaching two years in the Midlands, a reunion in Spain does not appear to be in the cards, at least for now.

Although words can be something of a hollow commodity in this line of work, his recent statement on the issue should provide a momentary sigh of relief for any Villa fans who are worried about the Spaniard's departure from England.

Monchi directly addressing Aston Villa future

While addressing the known Isco incident with Marca, Monchi shared his current feelings toward the current club that he is at:

"They welcomed me warmly, I feel loved, very comfortable here with my apartment. I'm happy. I miss many things about Spain, but right now my happiness is comparable to Aston Villa. I want to focus on this wonderful present ."

This is as complete of an answer as can be expected from him right now. Naturally, there will always be a strong affinity for him toward his home country of Spain. His emphasis on how he is enjoying his life in Birmingham and excited about what is being built at Aston Villa should indicate how content he is. The pull factors of staying and helping Unai Emery are strong enough to overcome a potential departure as things stand right now.
