Monaco take hardline stance on Maghnes Akliouche sale

AS Monaco have made their stance on the potential sale of Maghnes Akliouche (23) clear. Coveted throughout the transfer window by clubs throughout Europe, the Frenchman has defied expectations and remains at his formative club, just days before the closure of the transfer window.

The Principality club’s €70m price tag has somewhat dissuaded suitors. Monaco have stood by that valuation and will feel vindicated in having set that valuation following the forward’s first France call-up yesterday.

Akliouche continues to be linked with a move away, but speaking in a press conference attended by Get French Football News on Friday, Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, was clear in his stance on a departure.

“Is there the possibility that Akliouche leaves? No, not from our side. We have said since June that we wanted to keep him. He understands that, too. Can we refuse a €60m offer? Yes, we can. We don’t have the intention of selling him,” said Scuro.

Speaking at the press conference, Akliouche admitted that “anything can happen” in football, but insisted that he was “happy” at Monaco.
