Whilst this mercato will be important primarily for the incomings, it also needs to be an important window for the outgoing players at AC Milan. Currently, the wage budget is not an issue, but there are several players who, if they departed, would help the club massively.

As a football fan, the mercato is one of the best periods of the footballing season. Of course, there are times when this is not the case, though – for example, selling a fan favourite, which is a worry in itself this summer.

From the rumours to the realities, there are so many factors that play into the summer, but what makes a successful summer?

In Milan’s case, the focus will be the incoming players, and the areas have been established for a while, meaning the room for error is minuscule. However, there must be a focus on the departing players as well.

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated in a press conference last month, there is no pressure for the Rossoneri to sell, and the club are in a healthy position in the mercato, but this position can be strengthened by players departing.

Reports from recent months have suggested that several returning loanees will depart the club this summer, and as Milan News reports this morning, the Diavolo are aiming for some players to move abroad.

The players in question are Alexis Saelemaekers – who has Serie A interest, Fode Ballo-Toure and Divock Origi. All three will not be at the club next season, with drastic action in the pipeline if needed for the latter two, but Milan’s stance is clear.
