Matt Miazga is nearing a return to his first action since last June, according to the MLS Player Status Report for Matchday 7 published Friday.
Miazga (knee surgery) has been upgraded to questionable for FC Cincinnati ahead of Saturday's match against the New England Revolution. His return would be a major boost for a rearguard that has been uncharacteristically leaky so far this season, particularly on the road.
Manager Pat Noonan's group has conceded seven times through three games, and it would have been eight without Roman Celentano's penalty save of Hany Mukhtar in last weekend's 2-1 win over Nashville.
Midfielder Yuya Kubo (leg) has also been upgraded to questionable after missing that win with a leg injury, but Cincy playmaker Evander (knee) and defender Miles Robinson (leg) are also questionable after contributing to the victory in Tennessee.
Brazilian attacker Gabriel Pec is the latest LA Galaxy player to deal with an injury issue, a hip problem that is leaving him questionable for Saturday afternoon's clash at Real Salt Lake.
Pec played all 90 minutes in Leg 1 of the Galaxy's Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal against Tigres UANL, a 0-0 draw. And with the return leg looming next Tuesday, Pec may have been a candidate for a rest or rotation anyway as Greg Vanney's struggling side.
Pec had an exceptional 2024 campaign with 16 goals and 14 assists but has started slowly for a Galaxy side still coping with the long-term absence of Riqui Puig, scoring only one goal and assisting one more in league play.
The Philadelphia Union will be without left back Kai Wagner for a second consecutive week as they host Orlando City on Saturday night.
Wagner was listed as questionable before he missed last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Inter Miami. Now he's been downgraded to out with an ongoing oblique issue as Philly aims to slow down the league's most productive attack so far.
Wagner went 90 minutes and had an assist in the sides' previous meeting, a 4-2 Union win in Orlando on opening weekend.
