An evening that should have been just about sport and celebration for Bologna, winner of its third Coppa Italia over fifty years after its last triumph, was marred by very serious incidents in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico.
These are not simple and already condemnable acts of vandalism – like those that had led in recent days to the ban on away matches for Milan fans in the next match against Roma – but something much more serious and intolerable: the outrage to the memory of Antonio De Falchi, a young Roma fan killed in 1989 before a Milan-Roma match.
During the match, offensive and disrespectful writings appeared: “Antonio live…d.”
In addition to this, Milan stickers were applied to De Falchi’s face, an act that shocked and outraged not only the Roma world, but also the sports world as a whole.
