AC Milan are considering a move for Crystal Palace centre-forward Jean-Philippe Mateta (28), according to a report from L’Equipe. The 28-year-old is also reportedly of interest to Liverpool FC as the Reds are keen to bolster Arne Slot’s options up front. Milan are also in the market for attacking reinforcements following Alvaro Morata’s loan move to Galatasaray.

For now, Lorenzo Colombo and Santiago Gimenez are the only recognized Milan forwards. I Rossoneri have made initial steps towards signing Mateta, but Crystal Palace’s price tag for the Frenchman, above the €30m mark, has reportedly cooled Milan’s interest. Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and Monaco’s Breel Embolo are also being monitored by Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan.

As for Mateta, the former Lyon striker is reportedly enticed by the prospect of being coached by Allegri. The 28-year-old believes that leaving Crystal Palace for a more prestigious European team could represent his only chance to join Didier Deschamps’ France national team in time for the 2026 World Cup.
