Mikayil Faye could seek Barcelona exit despite collapse of Porto deal | OneFootball

It looks as if a deal to take Mikayil Faye to Porto has collapsed, with Barcelona not moving on their demands. However the player himself could be the one to seek an alternative transfer away from the club.

Barcelona were reportedly demanding a €15m fee, a buyback clause and a sell-on fee percentage in order to let Faye go. New manager Hansi Flick has already told Faye that he is part of his plans for next season though, since the deal fell apart.

As per Diario AS, Flick sees him as an interesting player with potential, and versatility, someone able to cover at left-back. He is willing to give Faye a shot in preseason and beyond as he makes the move to the first team.

Faye is reluctant to play left-back though, and his stance is that he wants guarantees on how much he will play next season – if he stays, he plays. Barcelona have strong competition in the middle of defence though, and Flick cannot provide him with guarantees. The same outlet say his future could take some time to decide, as Barcelona do not want to sell him on the cheap, and Faye is not willing to accept a secondary role.

At Barcelona, they are beginning to tire of his attitude already, and it will likely come down to his stance on the matter to decide his future this summer.

Certainly Faye would have to start near the bottom of the queue for minutes in the Barcelona defence. All of the options ahead of him are more senior than he is, with the exception of Pau Cubarsi, who has demonstrated his quality at a higher level. It seems he will also have suitors, but whether they are willing to pay over the odds for him is another matter.
