The club have been tracking the winger for some time now, ever since Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic Park in 2023, with the interest dropping off immediately after the player suffered a dreadful injury which put an end to any possible transfer.
Rodgers and the recruitment staff were not deterred with that though and reignited interest in Balikwisha after he returned from his spell on the sidelines. At that time however, the player confirmed that he didnt want to acknowledge or engage in speculation about his future, as he was more concerned about getting back to his previous form which had garnered all the intrigue in the first place.

Now this summer again Michel-Ange has been in the frame for a move to Paradise, as his name hasn’t really shifted from the mainstream media in truth. With Nicolas Kühn about to clinch a £17.2 million move to Serie A with Como, who are managed by Cesc Fabregas, Rodgers is in the marketplace for a replacement and it seems as though the Royal Antwerp man fits the bill for him, with his devastating pace and enthusiasm in the wide forward areas looking like the perfect antidote to the absent Kühn.
Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant has intimated that the deal to take Balikwisha from Belgian football to Glasgow’s East End is waiting to be rubber-stamped, pending the deal for German winger Kühn to Como going through.

It’s claimed that Antwerp want a deal concluded quickly, as sporting director Marc Overmars needs to sell before the club can bring anyone else in. With Balikwisha also only having a year left on his current deal, the window is becoming very limited for the Belgian side to secure a handsome fee for the forward.
Things are beginning to crank up and in a big way, as this latest report indicates. We could see Balikwisha in the building this week, if all goes to plan, in what would be a welcome boost for the supporters after losing such a creative talent in Nicolas Kühn.
