Kylian Mbappe ensured France’s UEFA Nations League campaign ended on a positive note with a 2-0 win over Germany in the third-place play-off.
After defeat to Spain in the semi-final, Les Bleus claimed the bronze medal with victory over the host nation.
Mbappe opened the scoring with a fine individual effort, showing sharpness to make room for a shot and firing past Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the stroke of half-time.
The goal saw Mbappe reach a milestone, with his 50th international goal. He’s just the third Frenchman to reach 50 goals for Les Bleus, after Thierry Henry (51) and Olivier Giroud (57).
Giroud’s national record is now within his sights, while Mbappe has also made history as one of the youngest players to reach 50 international goals.
At just 26 years old, Mbappe is the fourth-youngest European to achieve the feat, behind only iconic Hungarian duo Sandor Kocsis and Ferenc Puskas and Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku.
Mbappe, who won his first European Golden Shoe with Real Madrid this season, has now scored 50 goals in 90 caps for France.
