Manchester United have been trying all summer to sell unwanted players in the hope of raising cash.

There have been numerous reports on the likes of Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony all leaving the club. Unfortunately, there have been no breakthroughs in negotiations and United have been unable to raise any funds as of yet.

Sell-on fee joy

The Red Devils have had more luck with sell-on fees as a means to raise cash however. Anthony Elanga is on the cusp of completing a move to Newcastle United that will see United receive a sizeable chunk of the £55 million fee.

What’s more, Alvaro Carreras is also highly likely to complete a move to Real Madrid from SL Benfica, which could also see United rake in some much needed cash.

Maxi Oyedele the next in line

Oyedele joined the Red Devils academy as an eight year old and won the Youth Cup in 2022.

He left the club in 2024, without making a first team appearance and joined Polish side Legia Warsaw. The 20 year impressed in midfield, playing 24 times for the club in his debut season.

His fine form has seen him linked to numerous teams and there were reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas were keeping tabs on the player.

Oyedele’s future seems clearer now however, as Polish news outlet Meczyki report that “Maxi Oyedele is set to leave Legia Warsaw! According to our information, the Polish international will move to Ligue 1.”

The report also adds that “RC Strasbourg is expected to become the Polish international’s new club. The French side are expected to pay a release clause of €6 million for him.”

The journalist who broke the news, Tomasz Włodarczyk, claims that United will receive nearly half of the €6 million fee due to a sell-on clause in his contract at Legia Warsaw.

The midfielder has been left out of his side’s Europa League qualifier tonight against FC Aktobe as he prepares for the move.

Warsaw reportedly even have their replacement lined up in the shape of Mileta Rajovic at Watford.
