Mauro Caballero brace lifts Águila over Hércules | OneFootball

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – The 2025 Concacaf Central American continued with CD Águila earning a 2-nil win against CD Hércules in Group D on Tuesday at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The all-Salvadoran encounter featured two sides seeking their first points of the campaign.

Águila took the lead in the 7’ as Mauro Caballero struck a left-footed shot inside the box to connect with a perfectly weighted ball from Darwin Cerén.

Caballero collected his brace in the 21’ with another left-footed strike in the box, this time off a service from the right side from Juan Cacace.

Benjí Villalobos collected the clean sheet with one save for Águila, denying Enrique Vásquez in the 64’ on what was the best opportunity for Hércules.

CD Águila collected its first three points of the campaign and will seek to jump into the top two in Group D when it hosts CD Olimpia next Tuesday.

Eliminated from advancing to the next round, CD Hércules will conclude its participation in the 2025 edition when it visits Real Estelí FC next Thursday.
