Mats Hummels is preparing to return to the field after almost a month on the sidelines.

According to Il Tempo, the German defender, absent in Roma’s last four games, could find space in the match against Monza, a crucial match for the Giallorossi’s journey in Serie A.

The centre-back’s last appearance dates back to January 17 against Genoa, then a series of exclusions that have fueled speculation about his future.

However, sources close to the player deny extra-football problems: Ranieri’s choice would be linked to the management of energy and the good performances of the defence in recent outings, in particular against Porto.

Despite some personal difficulties due to being away from his family, Hummels is determined to return and reaffirm himself as a point of reference for the defence.

Ranieri is evaluating his use already against Monza, in a match that could mark the German’s return to the starting line-up.
