There’s fresh news to report in the ongoing saga of Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Frenchman has decided to leave the German record champions, which has also been confirmed by Florian Plettenberg. Where the 19-year-old will end up prior to the close of the current transfer window remains to be seen.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the teenage talent, but there are obviously many suitors for the €30m-valued professional. One expects that Bayern will be scrambling to organise a loan deal for Tel in the final days of the transfer period. Tel remains under contract with the Rekordmeister until 2029. Bayern invested €20m when signing Tel from Rennes in July 2022.
Tel has received just two league starts this year under Bayern trainer Vincent Kompany. Overall, he’s made 14 appearances for the German giants across all competitions. The French youth international registered his first scorer point of the campaign in a recent match-day 17, a 5-0 win over Hoffenheim, assisting on a Leroy Sané goal three minutes after being subbed on half-time.
