Retegui’s words ahead of this transfer were full of satisfaction and happiness as he talked about is future club. He said: “I am very pleased and happy with what is happening to me, it is a dream I had as a child to play in Europe and it is coming true. Why Italy and Genoa? We made the decision as a family and thought it was the best one. I go to a big club, I’m happy and ready to learn. I want to stay closer to Italian football and do everything possible to grow and learn and be ready if they call me.”
Upon asking about his feelings when compared to Diego Milito, Retegui remarked: “He influenced the decision a little , the family made contact with Diego, and we also met him. He spoke very well of the club and the city. Serie A? I’m going very calmly, with the desire to play and win, let’s hope it’s the ideal championship”.
Before sealing a move to Genoa, Retegui was also linked with a move to Inter and a host of other clubs, including Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.
