Olympique de Marseille supporters have voiced their concern following the club’s decision to place Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe on the transfer list after their dressing-room altercation on Friday.

Christian Cataldo, president of Marseille’s Dodger’s supporter’s group, reacted to the news on RMC Sport and urged club president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Medhi Benatia to meet fans urgently.

Cataldo admitted the events had shocked the supporters: “We’ve seen a lot of madness over the years, but this one is something else. We built the team around Adrien Rabiot. The directors praised him for months, and we were also happy to have him. He was a key figure last season.”

He questioned the decision to sideline the France international, arguing that an internal sanction would have been a better route: “I wouldn’t have done it this way. I would have given him a big punishment and then sat everyone down to clear the air. They are taking a big risk.”

Cataldo also pointed out that OM’s season-ticket campaign had featured Rabiot as a leading figure, warning that the fallout could be serious if the club does not handle the situation carefully: “We’re waiting for a meeting with the directors very quickly to explain all this. It’s not planned yet, but it needs to happen.”GFFN | George Boxall
