Mason Greenwood (23) has contributed significantly to Olympique de Marseille’s UEFA Champions League qualification. The former Manchester United forward has 19 goals in Ligue 1 this season; only Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé (21) has more. However, as RMC Sport report, OM wouldn’t be completely opposed to a sale this summer.
Greenwood is not one of the untouchables that Marseille are absolutely determined to retain. His future, like many players in the OM squad, will be reviewed at the end of the campaign, with the club’s hierarchy now planning for a return to Champions League football.
Despite Greenwood’s output, including the goal against Le Havre AC at the weekend, which clinched a podium spot, the Englishman’s lack of effort or commitment at times in the season has been a source of frustration internally, RMC Sport reports. As a result, Marseille could consider a sale, should a strong offer be tabled during the summer transfer window.
The futures of Geoffrey Kondogbia and Valentin Rongier are also up in the air. The latter’s contract expires at the end of next season and there has been no breakthrough in talks over a renewal.
