Inter Miami is in the Leagues Cup final. After an intense match, the Herons came back from behind against Orlando City.
Allende’s entrance to the game gave the Herons the movements and diagonals the team was missing. With plenty of struggles in defense, Lionel Messi stood up and scored the penalty to give the squad the lead in the match.
Before the match, Marco Reus told reporters that Messi dominated Europe, and now he dominates the MLS, and he is not wrong.
The German legend didn’t say anything that fans didn’t know. However, the recent performance of the Herons' captain confirms Reus’ words.
With a penalty kick and a goal, Lionel Messi put Inter Miami on his shoulders when the team most needed him.
With a low production from everyone, Messi still plays like he did in FC Barcelona. He plays with that same winning hunger like when he was young.
The former Borussia Dortmund said the Herons captain dominates MLS, and he is not wrong: “Messi has done everything a footballer can — won every trophy, broken every record, and still amazes us every game. He dominated Europe, and now he dominates here. He’s the best.”
But you don’t have to believe the media or the players if you don’t want to; you just need to look at the stats.
With 10 games fewer than Sam Surridge, Lionel Messi stands second in the goalscorers list, with one goal less than the Nashville player. According to the official MLS website.
But that’s not all, just watch him play, and you’ll see that, even at 38 years old, Messi still goes toe-to-toe with the league’s youngest stars.
