Marc Cucurella has backed Nicolas Jackson to start scoring again with the striker currently enduring a difficult run in front of goal.
The Blues returned to winning ways on Monday night with a hard fought 2-1 victory against West Ham, in what was just their second win in the last eight league games.
The three points moved Chelsea back into the top four and two points ahead of Manchester City and Newcastle in the race for the Champions League.
The West Ham game was yet another game in which Jackson failed to find the back of the net, and despite a promising start to the campaign the 23-year-old hasn’t scored in 2025.
Jackson has nine league goals this season and is currently struggling, but there’s also a lack of a viable alternative for the Senegal international, although they’ve been strongly linked with Liam Delap.
The Blues once again didn’t sign a striker in the transfer window, and teenager Marc Guiu replaced Jackson early in the second half against the Hammers.

The duo both suffered injury scares, although Maresca provided a somewhat positive update on the pair after the game.
Chelsea really need Jackson to start scoring again, and other than Cole Palmer all the attackers need to step up and contribute more in the second half of the campaign.
Jackson has certainly improved this season and his finishing is better than in his debut campaign, although there’s always room for improvement.
Cucurella, who knows what it’s like to go through difficulties at the club has backed Jackson to start scoring again.
“I think for every striker in the world it is important to score goals but with Nicolas it’s not just the goals, he gives a lot to the team,” he told The Mirror.

“He presses very good and does a lot of movement in and out for other players and that is also very good.
“Everyone has tough moments during the season but the most important thing is that we are with him during this period he plays a lot and for sure if he continues like this he will score a lot of goals.”
