Rayo Vallecano president Martín Presa has on Sunday sent a message the way of Barcelona, regarding the condition of the pitch at Vallecas.

This, of course, comes amid widespread discussion surrounding the playing surface at Rayo’s ground.

Footage came to the fore earlier this week, showcasing the alarming state of the grass at Vallecas at present:

As much quickly sparked concern amongst all of a Barcelona persuasion, amid fears of potential injury setbacks for Hansi Flick’s players on Sunday.

Speaking during an exchange with the media ahead of the upcoming kick-off in Madrid, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his side’s pitch was put to the aforementioned Martín Presa.

And Rayo’s president was defiant in his response, assuring the reporters in attendance that:

“Our pitch is in perfect condition for playing. A good player plays on any pitch without excuses. Maradona played in the mud.”
