Ruben Amorim has confirmed his star players will continue to play despite reaching the Europa League final
Ruben Amorim will have more than one eye on the Europa League final when he names his team to face West Ham in the Premier League.
Ahead of the all-English final against Tottenham in Bilbao on May 21, Amorim has said he will not make wholesale changes because he wants to keep giving minutes to his most-trusted stars.
Amorim said: “They will play because sometimes it's better to play.
"What I will protect is the players that can get an injury. For example, Bruno [Fernandes], or the last game before Tottenham, but we moved the game to Friday, Chelsea, so we will have time to recover.
“Bruno doesn't have the problem of (knocks table) any injury, but Harry [Maguire] has so we will have to manage that. But they have to play and it's better to play than to stay out."
The likes of Christian Eriksen and Amad Diallo are pushing to start and decision is required in defence with Matthijs de Ligt still sidelined.
Youngster Tyler Fredricson started on the right of a back three against the Bees. Chido Obi is also back in contention after being ineligible for the Europa League but is unlikely to start back-to-back Premier League games.
Toby Collyer (leg) and Ayden Heaven (ankle) will be assessed ahead of kickoff, but Lisandro Martinez (knee), Joshua Zirkzee (thigh) and Diogo Dalot (calf) all remain sidelined.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Fredricson, Lindelof, Yoro; Mazraouri, Ugarte, Eriksen, Shaw; Garnacho, Hojlund, Fernandes
Doubts: Collyer, Heaven
Injured: De Ligt, Martinez, Zirkzee and Dalot
Time and date: 2.15pm on Sunday, May 11, 2025
Venue: Old Trafford
