Manchester United could be missing up to 10 first-team players for the visit of Brentford on Saturday.

Noussair Mazraoui is also set for a spell on the sidelines after he underwent an operation to address heart palpitations.

Kobbie Mainoo withdrew from the England squad with a hamstring problem, Alejandro Garnacho was not selected for Argentina due to a knee injury and Amad Diallo linked up with Ivory Coast before returning to Carrington to recover from illness.

Manuel Ugarte limped off with a muscle problem late on during Uruguay’s 0-0 draw with Ecuador on Tuesday night, while Luke Shaw and Mason Mount remain out.

Shaw has yet to feature this season after struggling with a calf injury while Mount had a head injury and then picked up a knock.

Mainoo, Garnacho, Diallo, Ugarte, Shaw and Mount will all be assessed ahead of the Brentford game at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag could be forced to play Jonny Evans at left-back against the Bees, with Diogo Dalot moving over to his preferred right-back position.

Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt could both be recalled to the starting line-up as centre-back partners, while Victor Lindelof is also available again.

Casemiro could come into the side and make up United’s midfield alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, while Ten Had has decisions to make in attack.

Marcus Rashford is expected to start on the left flank while Antony may get a rare opportunity if Garnacho or Diallo do not recover in time.

Rasmus Hojlund is still finding his form after missing the first seven weeks of the season with a hamstring problem, but is likely to get the nod ahead of Joshua Zirkzee.
