Manchester United host Crystal Palace in the Premier League today in search of a fourth straight win.
Ruben Amorim’s side secured progress in the Europa League on Thursday night, following a 2-0 win over FCSB in Bucharest. That win followed victories over Rangers (Europa League) and Fulham in an encouraging period for the Red Devils.
Kobbie Mainoo flourished further forward in midweek and could again be used in an advanced role, after a goal and assist in Europe.
Palace have lost just one of their last six games – last weekend’s defeat to Brentford. The Eagles are 13th in the table, two points behind Manchester United. Oliver Glasner’s side have also won their last two meetings with Manchester United, including a 1-0 win at Old Trafford last season.
Luke Shaw is closing in on a long-awaited return to the side after resuming first-team training. However, the left-back is set to be eased back into the picture after his fitness issues. United are also set to confirm the arrival of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce to provide competition at left wing-back. The signing of Dorgu could see Tyrell Malacia move on.
Mason Mount remains a long-term absentee for the Red Devils and Jonny Evans is also sidelined. Marcus Rashford is likely to remain absent from the squad as the winger pushes for an exit before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Fernandes; Mainoo, Amad, Zirkzee.
Manchester United host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday 2nd February 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 14:00 GMT.
