Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Antonio Conte, who is expected to walk away from Napoli this summer.
Ruben Amorim launched a passionate defence of his philosophy and tactical ideas after United’s heartbreaking defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
Despite recording United’s worst-ever Premier League finish and failing to secure European football, Amorim insisted he will not change his style and would leave Old Trafford if the board and fans do not want him.
INEOS have shown they are ruthless and are not afraid to cut their losses quickly if things do not progress according to their plans. They parted ways with Dan Ashworth just months after luring him away from Newcastle United.
So far, the club’s hierarchy have not shown any desire to sack Amorim. Still, a report in Italy suggests the Premier League giants could make a move for Conte.
The former Chelsea boss has led Napoli to their fourth Scudetto title but it has been widely reported that he is not very happy with the club’s transfer decisions and could move elsewhere. He has been strongly linked with a return to Juventus.
However, according to Naples newspaper Il Mattino (via Tutto Napoli) the only “real threat to his future in Naples comes from: Manchester United.”
It is claimed that United would be interested in hiring Conte to “recover after a difficult period.”
The report, however, underlines the 55-year-old Italian tactician has yet to make a final decision on his future at Napoli and has no agreement with any other club.
Further, United have already started working on recruiting Ruben Amorim’s targets, indicating their intention to back the Portuguese.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have found a verbal agreement to sign Matheus Cunha, who is expected to occupy one of the two number ten positions in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
As per Amorim’s wishes, United are also prepared to offload Alejandro Garnacho. Accordingly, it is difficult to see the Mancunians following Conte, or any other manager for that matter. It is advised to take the claim with a pinch of salt.
