Manchester United consider Fiorentina star Moise Kean as a back up striker option, as per reports.
Both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee endured a disastrous 2024/25 season and United ended their Premier League campaign with fewer goals than 16 teams.
As such, a new striker appears to be an absolute priority for Ruben Amorim. However, so far, the club’s hierarchy have failed to make any significant progress in their pursuit.
The absence of Champions League football and a worrying financial situation has made it difficult for the Red Devils to attract elite strikers and may eventually force them to make a relatively low-profile signing to give some ammunition to Amorim.
According to Florence newspaper Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness), United are currently exploring the market to find a “super striker” to spearhead their frontline.
United have been strongly linked with Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.
However, the Sweden international wants to play in the Champions League next season and the Nigerian star is unwilling to significantly lower his wage demands.
The Florence newspaper claim United could turn to Kean if they fail to sign one of their dream options.
The 25-year-old, who had a torrid time at Everton, has regained his confidence and goalscoring touch in Florence, having scored 25 goals in all competitions this term.
This has reportedly put him on the shortlist of many top clubs, including United and AC Milan.
The Italy international’s contract includes a €52 million release clause.
The young striker respects the opportunity that Fiorentina handed him but the attention from elsewhere is reportedly causing doubt in his mind.
