Manchester United have discovered how much Fiorentina striker Moise Kean is demanding in order to green-light a transfer to Old Trafford.
United are looking to sign a new striker following the struggles endured by Rasmus Hojlund last season.
Goals were in short supply for United during a disastrous 2024/25 season, and there is a recognition within the club that signing a top-level striker is essential to transform the attack and boost their competitiveness next season.
At the moment, United’s top two targets appear to be Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Kean.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United have been making frequent checks on Kean, who has enjoyed a dramatic change in fortunes since leaving Everton. Fiorentina signed him last summer for only £11m, a price that’s proving to be a bargain given he netted 25 goals in 44 games during his first campaign with La Viola.
More recently, it emerged that Kean, who has received an offer from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Qadsiah, wants to move to United, perhaps because he feels he still has a point to prove in the Premier League.
But, the Italy international won’t come cheap, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.
The news outlet confirms that United are “vigilant” and although they haven’t made a concrete offer, are “regularly in touch to monitor the situation” of the player.
It’s understood Keane is “one of the favourites” on United’s list of striker targets. The Red Devils are said to have scouted him several times and “don’t intend to lose sight of him.”
Arsenal are also an interested party in Kean’s signature but they’re “much more on the sidelines” compared to Amorim’s side.
Il Corriere Dello Sport add that Al Qadsiah have offered Keane an annual salary of €17m (£14.55m). Although a very generous offer, it is still below the €20m (£17.1m) that the former Paris Saint-Germain man is looking for.
This comes to around £330,000 per week, which would make him the second-highest paid player at United, if he were to join the side. He would be making more money than skipper Bruno Fernandes.
Another thing to note is that Kean’s £44.5m release clause is only vlaud for the first two weeks of July. After that, Fiorentina are free to demand whatever they want for the 25-year-old.
It means United are on the clock to get a deal done.
