Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin looked a prime candidate to leave the club last summer, as he entered the final year of his contract with no sign of a new deal being signed. However it could be this year that the Ukraine international moves on.

Lunin, 26, came in to replace Thibaut Courtois last season while the Belgium was out with a  cruciate ligament injury, and deputised well. He was crucial in Real Madrid’s progress to the Champions League final, making saves in their penalty shootout win over Manchester City. He had then agreed a new five-year deal with Real Madrid in March, who were keen to keep him.

However relations appeared to sour somewhat in the final two months of the season. With Courtois back fit, Lunin dropped to the bench again, missing his moment in the sun in the Champions League final. That contract went unsigned for several months, and then seemingly from nowhere, Lunin penned a deal until 2030 last September.

For those looking for a goalkeeper in the summer though, Lunin remains an option though, and at a good age for a goalkeeper. Courted by the Premier League last summer, Sport say that Manchester United are now interested in Lunin for the summer. He clearly has a long time left on his deal, but with a market value of €20m, it is said that Real Madrid could be interested in an offer around that amount.

Andre Onana is yet to convince at Old Trafford beyond doubt, and Lunin has now proven himself at the top level. Currently he is playing only the Copa del Rey fixtures for Real Madrid, and despite having recently signed a contract, it has been reported Lunin would still be open to an exit. Los Blancos are dealing with a lower level of income this season than expected due to the halt to concerts at the Santiago Bernabeu – that could inspire one or two sales this summer.
