Ruben Amorim is facing a selection crisis after suffering another defensive injury

Manchester United were handed a fresh injury concern ahead of the Europa League final as Leny Yoro was injured in Sunday’s home loss to West Ham.

Yoro went down off the ball shortly after halftime and headed straight down the tunnel after coming off. He was seen limping as he left the ground, though Ruben Amorim said he would not be able to put a timeframe on his return until after he had undergone further tests.

With Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven, and Diogo Dalot all sidelined, Amorim is facing something of a defensive injury crisis and will be sweating on several players’ returns ahead of the Europa League final, which is now less than two weeks away.

Amorim could see several players return ahead of Friday’s trip to Stamford Bridge, though.

Here is all the latest Manchester United injury news and return dates.

Leny Yoro

Yoro was injured off the ball in the second half of Man United’s loss to West Ham on Sunday, though Amorim did not seem particularly worried about his condition.

He said: “We will assess the player, but I think it is a small thing. We hope it's nothing serious.”

The nature of the injury remains unclear, and the player will undergo tests this week.

Potential return date: Unknown

Matthijs de Ligt

De Ligt suffered a fresh injury in last week’s Premier League loss to Brentford, though Amorim believes that the latest issue is not a serious one.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s meeting with Athletic Club, he said: “It is not a big issue, so that is a good thing. But he cannot play tomorrow and on Sunday [vs West Ham]. But then we will check day-by-day and see.”

Amorim may be inclined to rest De Ligt for Friday’s visit to Chelsea so as to prevent another injury ahead of the Europa League final.

Potential return date: Friday May 16, vs Chelsea (A)

Ayden Heaven

Heaven’s Man United career has been defined by highs and lows. He arrived from Arsenal in February and made a grand impression on debut, but injuries have prevented him from playing regularly since.

He last featured in a matchday squad for last month’s visit to Newcastle but did not play and has been sidelined since. He returned to individual training this week, though, and it is hoped he will return to play soon.

Diogo Dalot

Dalot has been a regular at wing-back since Amorim took over at United, but has been absent since suffering a calf injury in last month’s loss to Wolves.

Amorim has suggested he may not feature again this season: “We don't know how long he's going to be out. But he's out for these next games.”

Potential return date: Unknown

Toby Collyer

Collyer suffered a leg injury ahead of United’s Europa League quarter-final meeting with Lyon. At the time, Amorim told the media he was still a while away from returning to training.

He said: "Toby has a small issue in his leg, so we hope to have him in a few weeks."

Collyer returned to individual training last week, and could be set for an imminent return to play.

Potential return date: Wednesday May 21, vs Tottenham (N)

Joshua Zirkzee

Dutch striker Zirkzee suffered a hamstring injury against Newcastle in April and walked off the pitch, but Amorim has since confirmed he is out for the season.

He said: “He’s not going to play more this season. Let’s prepare him for the next one.

“It’s tough, especially in this moment. I think he’s improving in all aspects of the game, so it’s hard for any player to stop.”

Potential return date: Next season

Lisandro Martinez

Martinez suffered a ruptured ACL against Crystal Palace in February and was ruled out for the season shortly thereafter. He has since undergone a successful surgery and is working to return next season.
