Three United midfielders picked up injuries in training this week
Manchester United fear Amad Diallo could miss the rest of the season in a huge blow to Ruben Amorim.
The winger has been one of United’s best players this season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists, but he is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Amad suffered an ankle injury in training this weekend and will now be assessed, but the Daily Mail report that the ligament damage could bring a premature end to his campaign.
The 22-year-old took to Instagram on Saturday to confirm that he is out for “some time.”
Amad posted: “Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season.
“Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!!
“Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”
United have not played since edging past Leicester in the FA Cup more than a week ago and it has proved to be a frustrating period since then.
According to The Athletic, Kobbie Mainoo is set to be out for at least a couple of weeks after picking up an injury of his own in training, while fellow midfielders Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer are also expected to be ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Tottenham.
It leaves Amorim short of options in attack and in midfield for the trip to north London.
At least one of Christian Eriksen or Casemiro are likely to start against Spurs, while Amad’s absence will be particularly frustrating to Amorim after United let Antony and Marcus Rashford leave in the January transfer window.
