Manchester United fans seeing Newcastle United go 2-0 up inside 19 minutes and it could and should have been four or five goals by the break.

The second-half saw Newcastle happy to sit back more and coast to a very easy victory.

Manchester United fans commenting posr-match via their Red Cafe message board:

‘Can’t remember such a one sided first 30 minutes at Old Trafford. Could easily have been 5-0 to Newcastle.’

‘Newcastle stopped playing at 0-2. Thankfully.’

‘Woeful.’

‘This is the worst I’ve felt about United in ages.’

‘We could very well get relegated. If you don’t believe it, you’re not believing what’s unfolding in front of your very eyes.’

‘Painful.’

‘Never seen a worse display by a United team in the decades of being a supporter of the club.

Zirkzee, Casemiro, Rashford and Eriksen need to go asap.’

‘We have no creativity without Bruno and no aggression without Ugarte.

That first half was the worst performance I have seen in 30 years of supporting this club.’

‘Could have been a lot worse.’

‘Better than expected. This is the worst we’ve been in 50 years.’

‘Once again, we just do not look like a team that’s physically/athletically capable of playing top level football. Slower, weaker, less sharp, and less intense than the opposition.’

‘Absolutely bullied by Newcastle.’

‘The atmosphere, the spirit, the energy, all gone. This is all on Ineos.

‘The players are a disgrace. I hate the lot of them. Nuke the club and start again from the lower leagues please.’

‘The first 30 was like watching a different sport. Absolutely outplayed. Got better afterwards as Newcastle put the foot off the pedal.’

‘Newcastle didn’t need to get out of second gear. Sunday will be fun.’

‘Actual crisis. Ruben might be sacked by by new year. Relegation a reality. My god, this is dreadful.’

‘That one’s on the boss. Starting Eriksen and Casemiro in midfield was daft. We don’t have the firepower to recover from 2 down.’

‘Amorim made mistakes with his selection but in all honesty a number of the players were so bad I’m not sure it really mattered.

People have been pining for Casemiro but he was an embarrassment, Newcastle have numerous players that would significantly improve our team, I’m not sure any of our starting eleven would be a big upgrade for any of their players.’

‘We looked good in large parts of the game.

Looked confident defensively barring two miniscule moments.’

‘For anyone who thinks relegation isn’t a possibility, better teams then ours have got relegated and on current form we are the worst PL team!’

‘Yes, Newcastle are a big strong team, but bloody ell, we looked way off them in terms of physical attributes. Obviously its been that way for years, but add in a manager that demands a high tempo intensity and we are up a creek.’

‘That first 30 when we looked like we’d never even seen a football before was worse than anything previous. Should all have wages docked. Watching crosses come in, couldn’t make a pass.’

‘At least we showed some fight first 20 minutes of the second half but otherwise…toothless, ponderous.’

‘Yeah i wouldn’t really call that “fight”. Newcastle were so comfortable, they really didn’t need to break much of a sweat. They literally just sat back and watch united pass the ball awkwardly, not really do much and ping long balls.’

‘I want to say at least we didn’t completely collapse in the second half but I can’t tell how much of that is due to Newcastle sitting back and how much was us actually improving.’

‘I’d sack Amorim tonight. I think we probably avoid relegation if we sack him. If we keep him it’s 50/50 at best. He’s taken a group of players most people agreed were underperforming under Ten Hag and got them performing considerably worse. Literally only sunk cost fallacy and PSR considerations keeping him in a job.

Yes the players are at fault too but this guy has been absolutely exposed by the switch to the premier league.’

‘Game was done after the second goal.

They stopped playing because they knew we could not hurt them.

The zirkzee signing has to be some sort of money laundering, like antony. There isn’t a footballer in either of them, and we spent what, £130 million on the pair. I’d call in the cops to investigate both of those transactions.

Casemiro needs to go in january. Pay someone to take him if we must.’

’38 years following them and I’ve never been so disgusted in a 1st half performance in particular. Slight improvement 2nd half but that wasn’t hard to be honest. Really don’t know where they go from here. Probably the lowest I’ve felt about a squad of players ever. Fortunately I grew up in an era where I’ve been spoilt for success watching United. Probably just aswell because it’s a long road back from here.’

‘2nd half only “decent” since Newcastle relaxed and saved energy. We didnt look like scoring either. Relegation battle is near.’

‘Another sobering night… remember when Newcastle & Villa thought they were too big too go down? Well… 7 points away from the relegation zone and we look so far off even a midtable PL team in effort, athleticism and quality.’

‘Yes forty years a supporter I felt like crying in that first half an hour it was like watching a pub team and not a good pub team one playing forty year olds and smoking in their warm up.’

‘There might be something in that thing about Martinez being too short to play centre back.’

‘After 5-10 mins of second half you could have easily called 2-0 result. Newcastle dropped off. They were barely bothered.

We were embarrassed and embarrassing.’

‘I watched them a lot In 73/74 and I can assure they were very poor, the only thing I will say about that team is that they did put a lot of effort in, but were poor players, now I believe we have a number of good players, but not enough effort and at the moment organization, that’s what Eddie Howe is good at, he is like an upgraded Pulis , or Dyche, hard to beat and run their socks off for 95 mins.’

‘There was a time in the end of the match where Newcastle players were just bouncing off Garnacho, Eriksen and Mainoo all within a span of 20 seconds, how did we get to get at this stage to have a team of midgets and physically inept players, who lack pace, athleticism and dribbling ability.’

‘Our academy got beaten 4-1 by Huddersfield Town. Not sure they would do much against Newcastle or Liverpool. We are going to have to stick with this rotten bunch, and it is going to take 4 transfer windows to get this squad where it needs to be.’

‘It’s hard to not be disappointed by tonight’s result, but did we really expect any different?

Newcastle have come into form. Coming into the game on the back of three straight clean sheets and 3 or 4 goals per game. Us on the other hand have been in dire form, can’t defend and can’t score. Sadly I think us getting something from the game was always going to be unlikely.’

‘For us to be competitive after the manager’s adjustments throughout the game against an in-form Newcastle United gave me hope that we have better days ahead.’

‘Eddie Howe was one of my preferred managers. His team always play with energy and will run their socks off. He has managed English team for quite some time and is doing good. At least the players that he buys can play in the EPL.’

‘It’ll probably sound like an excuse but (other than Amorim starting Casemiro-Eriksen without Mainoo) what didn’t help was Ugarte and Bruno not being available. Newcastle’s midfield is strong and they’re in very good form atm so they were always more likely to win.’

‘Switched over to the darts when we went 2-0 down. Just didn’t see this team having the stomach to stage a comeback. Worst performance since the Spurs home loss earlier this season.’

‘Yes. But the coach knew Ugarte and Bruno were unavailable and for some reason though that Eriksen and Casemiro would work.

Eddie Howe tactics worked because he played on United weaknesses.

The effect was to isolate ZZ and RH and overload the midfield.’

‘Newcastle are probably (behind Liverpool) the form team in the country. They are young, energetic, big and powerful. Our weakened midfield got completely blown away. Starting Casimeiro and Erickson together is a massive mistake, Amorim will learn from that but it’s clear as well as a striker we need top quality in midfield.’

‘Weird we just dropped the worst half of football in 30 years of watching Manchester United as soon as we played without Bruno.’

‘He’d have made zero difference whatsoever. He’s been part of this team who have been humbled and destroyed by many a team. We’d have lost still.

We aren’t as good as Newcastle. We aren’t capable of matching their levels of intensity, we aren’t capable of beating their press. Bruno would have been a passenger, like he has been for a long time now

Stop creating an agenda that Bruno is our saviour for god sake. Pathetic.’
