With Barcelona yet to return to the 1:1 Financial Fair Play rule, concerns remain about their ability to register their new signings.

There have been suggestions that the La Liga champions will need to make at least one major sale this summer, so as to generate revenue as well as free up salary space.

In recent days, the name of Marc Casado has emerged as a potential candidate for sale, as the La Masia graduate might not have a prominent role in the team once Marc Bernal returns from injury.

Now, according to Caught Offside (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Manchester United have now joined the list of Premier League clubs targeting Marc Casado this summer.

Arsenal and Chelsea have previously expressed an interest in signing the La Masia talent, with the Red Devils also throwing their hat into the ring now.

Arsenal, for their part, have moved on to sign Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, but Chelsea still remain keen amid concerns over Romeo Lavia’s lack of impact since arriving.

Now, Manchester United have also shown an interest in Casado as they see the Barcelona youngster as a better option for their team than Manuel Ugarte, who was signed last summer from PSG.

Casado has a release clause of €100 million and a contract that runs until 2028. The midfielder’s intention remains clear – he wants to stay at Barcelona.

And, even though the Catalans are under financial pressure and may need to make a major sale to ease their accounts, they have ruled out the sale of Casado for now.

Whether that stance changes if a lucrative offer comes along from any of the Premier League clubs will be interesting to see.
