Ruben Amorim and United transfer chiefs can celebrate two wins over the Gunners
Manchester United have twice stolen a march on Arsenal this week as a deal for a second wonderkid has reportedly been agreed.
Ruben Amorim has given his thumbs up for a double deal as he looks to make his first signings as United manager.
Earlier this week, 16-year-old Emmanuel Ziro completed his move to United amid reported interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea.
"For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a ball at my feet and enjoyed the game of football,” Ziro said. “I now have the opportunity to continue doing that at the biggest club in the world, as well as the team I support.
"I look forward to continuing my journey playing for Manchester United and would like to thank everyone that has contributed to my development up until now, especially [the Cre8tive Football Academy]. You guys are my family and I thank you for everything you have done for me."
Not done there, United appear to have also won the race for another teenage star in the form of left-back Diego Leon, who has made 19 appearances and scored two goals in the Paraguayan top flight.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal worth up to €8million (£6.3mi) has been agreed with both Leon’s club, Cerro Porteno, and the player. Leon will arrive at Old Trafford in July 2025.
Journalist Graeme Bailey added that Arsenal were also interested in Leon, who has been described as one of the most exciting youngsters in South American football.
United are looking for a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw, who has endured a torrid time with injury.
Since the start of last season, Shaw has missed 86 games and counting for club and country and is currently sidelined with another muscle complaint.
