In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus stated that Manchester United are in the running to land Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are looking to acquire the English striker’s services on a free transfer this off-season.

Calvert-Lewin’s Up-And-Down Season In English Football

The 28-year-old managed to impress at times with his contributions in the final third but struggled to be consistent for the Toffees in the Premier League. Calvert-Lewin found the back of the net three times and grabbed two assists in 26 appearances for Everton last season in various competitions.

The Sheffield-born talent did well to average 2.8 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He managed to keep 38% of his shots on target. However, Calvert-Lewin needs to improve his ball distribution up top after completing just 62.6% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).

Calvert-Lewin is currently a free agent. Hence, it makes sense for the Red Devils to offer him a short-term contract as he would be a useful addition to their squad ahead of the new campaign.

What Will Calvert-Lewin Add To Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim’s Side?

Calvert-Lewin is proficient at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. The English talent is a strong runner with the ball. However, Calvert-Lewin is far from a prolific forward in the Premier League. Standing at 1.89m, he can use his powerful frame to win a few aerial duels for his team in the opponent’s half.

We can expect Calvert-Lewin to add more quality and depth to Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim’s attack. He is good enough to serve as a decent, rotational piece in the Mancunian club’s squad in the coming years.
