In a recent post on X, talkSPORT journalist Anil Kandola claimed that Manchester United are close to signing Brentford attacker Bryan Mbuemo. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eager to get a deal done for the Cameroonian winger this summer.

Mbeumo’s Impressive Record At Brentford Last Season

Mbeumo enjoyed a decent campaign at the English club recently as he managed to put in a series of impressive performances in the final third. The Cameroon international made 42 appearances for the Bees last season, finding the back of the net 20 times and earning nine assists in all competitions.

The 28-year-old caught the eye by averaging 2.08 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 43% of his attempts on target. However, Mbeumo was a bit untidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 66.1% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Brentford will run out at the end of next season which could give Man United a chance to land him on the cheap this summer.

What Will Mbeumo Bring To Manchester United?

Mbeumo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the wide areas. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can create the odd chance for others around him in the final third. However, the Cameroonian sensation has to find a way to improve his link-up play in the opposition half.

Mbeumo has got a lot of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man United. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also function as a centre-forward if told to do so.

We can expect Mbeumo to bring more quality and depth to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s frontline. He is good enough to fight for regular first-team football at Old Trafford next season.

At 28, Mbeumo is playing in his prime which makes him a good option for the Red Devils to pursue in this summer transfer period. He might even help the Mancunian giants compete for European football over the next few years.
