The news of Manchester City’s hearing finally getting underway is more than welcome.

Finally, Manchester City will get an opportunity to defend their case against 115 charges of breaking the Premier League’s financial rules. Ever since the charges were announced the case has hovered over the club. As Manchester City have been in an unprecedented era of success on the pitch, matters off the pitch have rumbled away in the background. It has become a major topic of conversation throughout City’s era of dominance. The topic has often been used to take the gloss off of the world champions’ recent success.

Now, an ending to the entire saga is finally in sight. While a verdict is still many months away it does feel like the entire affair is finally concluding. That day will be a welcome one so focus can get back onto matters on the pitch. David McDonnell has reported for the Mirror that Manchester City’s hearing in front of an independent panel could take up to two months. Furthermore, McDonnell adds that a verdict on the case isn’t expected until next year.

Manchester City have long maintained their innocence in the case. When the charges were announced the club released a statement welcoming the hearing in front of an independent panel. Now that hearing is finally set to get underway on Monday. Finally, a resolution to the saga is in sight. Although it is still a fair way in the distance it is actually within sight now. That is welcome news so hopefully the whole saga can be put to bed one way or another in the coming months.
