Last night saw Manchester City’s boy wonder that is Phil Foden, named the PFA Men’s Player of the Year. The award sits alongside Foden’s Premier League Player of the Season and the FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year award he claimed last season.

After winning three prestigious individual awards Foden has now taken his place at the top of the game. The challenge now is for Foden to stay there. Based on what he has shown during his young career there is little doubt that he can maintain that status.

Now, the challenge for Phil Foden is to stay at the top of the game. It is one thing to climb the mountain, but it is another challenge entirely to stay there. But Manchester City’s boy wonder appears well set to maintain that standing. Under Pep Guardiola’s guidance and surrounded by players such as Kevin De Bruyne and others Foden has every tool available to maintain his standing in the game. He also possesses considerable talent and the mental attributes to maintain his place in the game.

The 23/24 season will forever be remembered as the campaign that Phil Foden took his place at the top of the game. At the beginning of the 24/25 season he looks well placed to maintain his place at the top of the mountain.
